What PAID costs on your volume

Card payments through Stripe, charged on your own Stripe account, are the only payment method PAID offers. You pay Stripe's processing fees to Stripe. PAID's fee, 1% per payment plus 10¢ only on payments over $20, the same on every plan, comes on top, with the plan's monthly fee. So PAID always costs more than Stripe alone. This page shows how much more, and what it pays for.

Put in your card volume

The result updates as you type. Nothing leaves your browser unless you press Email this.

Card payments taken in a month, in US dollars · $1,000 to $10,000,000.

625 payments a month at $80 each.

PAID adds its 10¢ only to a payment over $20. Set from your average: $80 is over $20, so every payment counts. Change it if your payment sizes vary.

Plan

The per-payment fee is the same on both plans; only the monthly fee differs.

Total a month, Stripe and PAID $2,200.00 4.40% of your volume · Stripe alone 3.28%
Compared with Stripe alone +$562.50 a month · +$6,750.00 a year PAID's fee + plan

PAID charges on your own Stripe account, so Stripe's fees are the same with or without PAID. PAID always costs more than Stripe alone: its fee and the plan, on top.

What the fee pays for

  • A hash-chained ledger

    Every financial event is hash-chained and append-only. Reconciliation reads the chain against the processor's statement, hourly. How the ledger works

  • Hosted checkout

    Hosted checkout and Stripe Elements keep card data out of your servers, so your PCI scope stays small.

  • Signed webhooks

    Every event is signed with your webhook secret (HMAC-SHA256), with automatic retries, exponential backoff and a dead-letter queue.

  • One dashboard

    Provider health, fraud signals, settlement timing and disputes in one place.

  • Self-serve

    API keys in minutes. No sales call to integrate or to test in live mode.

How it is worked out

Every number above comes from one small module of pure functions, in whole cents, with unit tests. It compares PAID with one thing: Stripe alone, the fees you would pay without PAID.

Show the formula and the rates

The formula

payments = volume ÷ average payment, rounded (at least 1)
payments over $20 = payments × your share over $20, rounded

Stripe            = volume × 2.9% + payments × 30¢        (paid to Stripe)
PAID's fee        = volume × 1%   + payments over $20 × 10¢
plan              = $0 (Starter) or $499 (Growth) a month
total             = Stripe + PAID's fee + plan
effective rate = total ÷ volume
added to Stripe = PAID's fee + plan (never below zero)
a year            = a month × 12

The rates

  • Stripe: 2.9% + 30¢ per card payment, Stripe's standard published US card rate, paid to Stripe directly. Your actual Stripe rate depends on your Stripe account.
  • PAID: 1% of every payment, plus 10¢ on each payment over $20.00, on every plan (pricing).
  • Plans: Starter $0 a month, Growth $499 a month.

The assumptions

  • The 10¢ applies to the share of payments over $20. With one average, the calculator starts by counting every payment as over $20 when the average is over $20, and none when it is $20 or less. If your payment sizes vary, set the real share.
  • Percentages are worked out on the month's total, in whole cents, so a statement that rounds each payment can differ by a few cents.
  • Card payments only: PAID offers no other payment method, so the calculator models no other.
